2010 in a nutshell

In the essence of being accurate in how my 2010 transpired, I started scribbling keywords and one-liners of monumental events (subject to my definition) which I considered to be worth a talk point in my 2010 rundown.

Here goes everything I doodled:

• Resigned from my job to have a supposedly better career track
• Got my heartbroken- for romantic and non-romantic reasons
• Failed in the UP master's exam- which I took unprepared :p
• Got promoted to associate editor from staff writer only to leave the job later on
• Moved to a new house- Marikina!
• Got my much dreamt pink room
• Bought my dream lappie which I call Cherry
• My omnia turned 1
• My iPod touch turned 2
• My pink camera turned 2
• We bought a family DSLR
• Learned how to use our DSLR- you know the aperture, shutter speed and all that sh*t for semi-pro shots
• Booked my trips for next year
• Applied, got accepted and deferred for one semester at UPOU
• Two of my closest highschool chums tie the knot, Lanie and Athan
• Landed a dream job which I never thought to have existed- Wedding Essentials
• Finally able to read and relate to the book 'it's called a breakup because it's broken'
• First time to set foot in Cebu
• Learned how to walk in heels once more
• Changed my entire wardrobe from preppy to more preppy, LOL
• Bought the most number of dresses and ballet flats
• Joined the Body Shop's membership what-nots because I'm a TBS addictus like that
• Learned to wear more toned down colors like blacks and browns and less frou-frous and frills
• Appreciated that ukay-ukays serves as a good backup for cheap-times-but-I-badly-need-clothes-days
• Faced the death of someone so dear to me-Tatay's :(
• Went to a virgin island called Cagbalete
• Was able to have my own website which is where I am moving my blog very very soon- Thanks again helene!
• Started to love flavored hot teas and different kinds of cheeses and sushi
• Ticked off a few cool things in my "2010 to-do list"- which means the ones undone would have to be carried over to my "2011 to-do list"
• Made amends with a friend I thought I've long lost and chucked some person whom I mistakenly thought to be one
• Got brave enough to walk away from something that's been causing my sorrow.
• Moved on
• Realized how friendship is everything- may it be uplifting low spirits or directing towards rosier career paths
• Discovered and favorably received other facets of myself and instances that are beyond my control and comprehension
• Appreciated the liberty and respect not to mention undying love, that my family gave me despite my past decisions that are not too good to hear.
• Realized the true meaning of best friendship and how it transcends constant movie night outs and 3-hour calls with ordinary friends
•  Becoming levelheaded to the point of arranging my future with clarity and certainty I've never been known for before
• This just in, my dearest Furbs is having a baby!!! And I'm gonna be a ninang again. Wuhoo!

I'd like to think that my year's been ultimately about leaning towards maturity. 

Making life-altering decisions. Carefully looking at possible outcomes. Unflinchingly facing dilemmas and calmly dealing with them. Embracing the constancy of change. Understanding the bearing of genuine gratitude and forgiveness. Keeping the faith, love, hope, empathy and passion despite everything. And treating life as it should be; one day at a time.

It sure was one heck-of-a-rough-ride. But seeing myself right now and knowing that  I've moved forward  from where I used to be, makes all the trouble worth it. 

Without further ado and notwithstanding the hurdles you threw my way,  thank you cosmos for the riveting, dynamic and predominantly, mental 2010 experiences. I wouldn't have had EVERY. SINGLE. BIT. OF. IT. any other way.
