unleashing the untapped

Last day of February 2011 and I'm four posts short from 400 entries.

Considering that my blog has been up for seven years now, it's quite fair to say that I write a little in the past years.
In fact, I think it would be appropriate to say that I have only come full circle in terms of embracing my blog's potential last 2010.

By potential, I don't mean monetary nor a following of a hundred readers. In its simplest form, I was able to learn that more than an outlet for my musings, to some extent my blog became my learning ground and my laboratory. For it is here where I hope to try a different writing approach I've read just about anywhere. It is in these 'pages' where I dabble in wordplay and metaphors. Above all, it is here where I can articulately convey my thoughts regardless how inane or profound they were. A no-holds-barred kind-of-writing.

Earlier as Ms. Marbs and I were driving home, she told me we need to hire someone who would help me with all the writing assignments. I found it extremely funny how she stressed that the last thing she wanted is seeing me bludgeoned by the tasks that are way over my head, and my pay grade.

Long story short, I most excitedly recommended one of our interns who managed to keep contact even after their internship. She said she felt so 'at home' while she's working with us. Furthermore, she has been hinting for weeks whether I could vouch for her once she applied for an opening in WE. Why not? The girl's hard-working and pleasant. And, I see tons of potential on her that are yet to be tapped. Maybe WE's the best place for her to unleash those skills.

Let me tell you what I like about this girl. Compared to her other co-interns before her candor is not without sense. You could look past her beautiful face and physique and realize that this girl is not an empty shell. Most importantly, I like how she knows where she stands, she can play the fool but graciously steps back when she's getting near her boundaries.

When I sent her a message regarding the opening, I could feel the jolt of happiness reverberating through her text. All the exclamation points and the misplaced smileys are too hard to miss. As courtesy, I had a little rundown on my personal experiences in working with WE. After my last pointer, at the get go she immediately said that she's no good writer.

For so long I've believed that writing is a skill that you either have or you don't. That had been so until I made efforts and understand that everything is learnable in this world. With focused mettle and painstaking learning, everything is possible.

And so I told her, "you have to practice. I'm not a good writer myself but I always practice. And what better reward is there after such rigorous training but recognition. Approval is invigorating as it is encouraging."

I really wish she gets the job. Because for one, I feel like I have a responsibility to usher her into a new phase of her untapped intelligence, of course, with the help of blogging. :)
