Bookworm

What's actually far intellectually entertaining than having to stare at my PC waiting for my FB newsfeed to populate with updates, that matter very little to the enrichment of my character and knowledge is revisiting and updating my almost-forgotten Shelfari account. (For the sake of those clueless as to what the site is about, it's pretty much your online repository of books that you want to read, you already read and you're currently reading. [Unleash the dork in me!])

As perpetually forgetful as I am, the only hope to save those slipping bits of crucial ideas, goals, names, dates, title and quite everything else from vanishing to the vortex of oblivion, would either be to put them in writing or to have someone serve as my cuckoo to remind me about it all the time. Calm now tiger. I know the latter's truly annoying. Which is why realistically speaking, the former is most acceptable if I don't plan to lose the patience of my friends in the process.

So anyway, it was two years ago when I first joined this site and from time to time, or better yet, if I get to finish a book, I always ALWAYS find time to mark the book there. You know, for posterity's sake.

You never really know if you get ran down by something while on your way home, only to find out that you've suffered from a severe trauma causing your mind to be completely wiped out of all the memories. No, really. I'm serious. I think of those things, like half the time, which is why I scribble everything memorable in my life. Whew! talk about veering away from the topic.

Back to Shelfari. It is through these kinds of discoveries that I most vehemently persuade myself to quit thrusting profanities to the Internet in general, for making web junkies immovable from the monitor, for there really are a handful of useful though quirky finds over the massive World Wide Web universe.

Apparently, the reason behind today's visit to the account is that I was able to finish It's Called a Breakup Because It's Broken (TRIPLE YAY!!!). That was slow reading at its finest! Took me months to finally see the epilogue, and a year since purchase before I set my eyes on the prologue. HAHA

With brevity in mind, I'd try to squeeze my review in a single statement.
The book was fancifully written to deal with a subject as profusely debilitating as breakups; at best, you would find yourself laughing at the ridiculous stories of the letter senders and the equally witty ripostes of Greg and Amiira; at worst, you'd find go nodding in agreement to the inane breakup-desperate-moves of everyone, including the authors themselves.
HA! See? I was faithful to what I said. One sentence. String of words jammed into a single one. LOL booyah all! :p

This is how my shelf in Shelfari looks like. Shelf = shelfari. Get it?

Gawddd I can't wait to go book shopping! I've added so many interesting "plan-to-read" books like Stieg Larssons' trilogy and Gregory Maguire's Wicked series and a whole bunch of badass writers who made it to the cut.

Crae, our layout artist and I promised to do so many things this year. Apart from eating less, which has been everyone's resolution as well, we vowed to save  cash for our upcoming trips and for a one-day-mega-book-shopping in bookdepository. (check this cool site, they ship books worldwide for, get this, FREE!!) AWEZOME right??!! We know. We actually did a "test buy"  of a few books earlier and I can't wait for my Stephen King book!!

The site says, our purchases should be in by two days. Will keep you posted guys. :)

Toodles!
