Pastillas Sucess!

If I remember it correctly, my first attempt to concocting a what seemed to be Pastillas de Leche was when I was still in college. That was one epic failure.

What's supposed to look like a tiny roll of milky candy with sugar coating ended up like a mashed potato. Part of such texture could be attributed to the fact that I did throw in two mashed potatoes, which I only did because I followed the instructions on that treacherous recipe book. That pastilllas I can still vividly remember, brought me enough embarrassment not to even dare doing it once more, not even on my second life.

Was substantially stern on the idea until weeks back. My boss divulged the secret to a successful pastillas which she adapted when she's in grade school.

Initially, I just allowed her advice to pass through my head, having in mind that it'll be part II of my previous disaster.

'Nuff trying to come up with hapless food, I've already reconciled myself with the fact that I will forever be a taster, never a cook. In fact, it sounded pretty much hassle-free, so I'm cool with it.

Being ever so persistent, she kept on bugging me about making it and how its a guaranteed win. Just to placate her unstoppable head, I gave in. Tried making one last Fiesta and true enough it was a sure victory.

Honestly, making it didn't fare very smoothly but with my Moms advice, we are able to revive the food. And to my surprise, it practically became a hit to the ones who tried it. Now that's a first.
Though I cannot claim all the glory single-handedly, I was quite pleased with the outcome.

Ingredients:
1 large can of condensed milk
2 180gm packs of powdered filled milk
Sugar for coating (or in this case, topping :p)

What you need:
Can opener
Pair of scissors
Mixing bowl
Spoon or whisk
Oslo paper
Microwavable container

Steps:
Just mix everything.
After gaining a certain amount of texture on the batter,
place it on the microwavable container and chill for about two hours.

Packing could either be through a 6x4 oslo paper or again in my case on a microwavable.
(We do not intend to sell it, so the packaging part we just disregarded)

True to her description, making it was a breeze that I had sufficient time to just sit around and make my Tita do all the making. lol :p

Voila! my finished product, Pastillas de MM (Just this once, allow me to incorporate my name on my creation) :p

* Pardon the photos, they were taken using my phone's camera on a dark setting.

PS. the entry following this would be a succinct movie review of Toy Story 3 in 3d. Watch out, watch out.

Toodles,
